June 10: Most interesting

In the past five weeks I have learned l lot in all of my classes including Library research. The most interesting topic that I've learned about was when we where finding websites that were not reliable sources. This was really helpful to me because it alerted me about finding information on websites because not all websites have reliable information. This was good to know due to the fact that I'm going to have to research a lot of information in college, and I will have to relay on the internet. I wiss we could have spent more time on this topic, and what websites are the most reliable.

July 9: most interesting

The most interesting thing about this pre-collegiate program, was the fact that we were given so many opportunites to explore and speak with different people who are in a variety of fields. This was very helpful because it gave you the chance to get advice and this tells you whether or not the field you were thinking about is right for you. I was also give the college experience and now I know what to be prepared for in the future. I would suggest this class to my friends.

July 8: When I grow up

When I have grow up, I would like to be either a Pediatrician or a pscychologist. Just because I like working with children and giving advice to people, anyway I can help someone. My internship at the Kempe Center at Children's hospital has also giving me inspiration for getting into the pediatric field.

July:7 Being a Librarian

I have never really thought of being librarian, although is seems to be a borring job I really don't think it's as bad as it looks. To be a librarian you must be good with researching, finding and stocking books, helping people find information, and using the computer. Being a librarian may be a good job for some, but I don't think it would be the best job for me.

July 6: Variety of sources

I believe the reason why teachers/librarians want to see a variety of sources such as books, journals, and websites in your paper bibliography, is because it shows that you have used many different sources. This is good because is shows that you got your information from a variety of many different places getting all the information that you could possibly get. Some sources may contain information that others don't have.

July 2: Libraries

I think libraries are very helpful when it comes to researching and finding good information. This is also the most reliable place you go to when you want to find a certain book. I think it would be really cool if libraries started getting their own website for the books. With this you wouldn't have to actually go get a book yourself to find good information.

July 1: Finding info

When it comes to doing reports and researching, the hardest thing about finding information for me is finding the right sites to go to. When I'm searching for something on the internet it is sometimes difficult to find a website that is reliable, and that I can trust. Some sites are hard to find or don't have accurate information, but sometimes you can't tell whether the info given to you is correct or not(fact or opinion).

June 30: What Libarians do

I think a Libarians' main job is to help people find certain books, researching and stocking books. They also can be very helpful with certain questions. I think it would be really cool if Libarians started helping students do research and find information on the internet instead of always using books.

June 28: Future of books

Since technology increases everyday, I believe that books will be used less in the future due to the fact that people enjoy using the computer and other technical resources to find information because it is much easier, because of this I think we will eventually see a future where everything is online. The one good advantage of books, is that information from a book is much more reliable then any random information you may find somewhere on the internet.

June 25: Study in college

When I go to college, I would like to study pre-med. I have dreams of becoming a Pediatrician or a Psychologist someday. I enjoy helping people and working with kids. Currently, I've just recieved an internship at Children's Hospital. There at the Kemp center I work with children who have been abused, this is a really good start for me and my future goals, and gives me a better understanding of how work with children. I am not 100 percent sure exactly where I want go in the medical field but hopefully I will soon make up my mind, I just have to work really hard to get there.

June 24: Class on Expert Googling

The class that we had the other day on Expert Googling was really helpful to me. After downloading clouldlet, the teacher taught me how to use clouds on google in order to make your searching easier and more detailed. I didn't know anything about cloudlet before this. She also gave me better skills on using google.

June 23

Finding accurate and/or factual information on the internet is sometimes really difficult. The reason why this can be a challenge, and due to the fact that all websites don't have info that 100 percent reliable. Just like we studied the other day, some sites on the internet give you fake information or information that is not accurate. Therefor you have to be very careful when it comes to going on different sites in order to research something.

June 22

After making it through the first week of the HCPC Program, I now know what to be prepared for during these next four long weeks. I feel exhausted already, and I know that in order to make it through this five week program I am going to have stay dedicated and work really hard because this is far from easy. This a really good first experience before actually going to college. I have faith and confidence in my self as long as I study hard, stay determined, and alert. This is going to be a very long summer!

June 19

After researching spoof websites in out library class, I was surprised to see that there were actually fony websites like that out there. From now on I will be more alert when going on different websites to research. This does make me consider the internet differently because some websites can seem real but could really be fake.

June 18

When I need help for finding information for my homework assignments, I usually do not seek a librarian to help me. I never do my homework at a library, therefore that is never a option for me. I do think that it would be a good idea but it's something I never thought about doing.

June 17

When I have to write a paper for a class I usually go straight to google for research information, because it is a easy reasearch that is easy for me to understand and get valuable info for my paper. I also like to go to Wikipedia for information.

why do you think you have to attend library instruction classes?

I think it is important to attend library instruction classes because they will teach what you should and shouldn't do in the library. The instructions will give you information about the library and where everything is. They will also give you a better understanding of the library.
