July 1: Finding info

When it comes to doing reports and researching, the hardest thing about finding information for me is finding the right sites to go to. When I'm searching for something on the internet it is sometimes difficult to find a website that is reliable, and that I can trust. Some sites are hard to find or don't have accurate information, but sometimes you can't tell whether the info given to you is correct or not(fact or opinion).

  1. That's very true! Even I sometimes can't tell if a website is reliable if I just Google it especially if I'm trying to learn about a topic and/or know next to nothing about a topic. I don't have a way of knowing what's missing, or what's skewed, or what's just plain wrong. That's why learning how to evaluate a website is so important. It's also one of many reasons why I personally like to start at a library when I am doing research-- most libraries have budgets big enough to pay for numerous subscriptions to online content (such as specialized subject databases) and provide links from the online catalog to websites that have already been reviewed and evaluated.
